You have probably had to deal with cracked, peeling or chapped lips
at some point. This is not fun, but it can happen at any time. Sometimes it is more severe, such as when you go into the sun without wearing any protection. However, if you do find that this is becoming a regular occurrence you will be happy to know that there is a lot on the market that will help you deal with the problem and restore your lips to good health.
It does not take a lot to be able to get soft looking lips. Most of the time all that you need is a good moisturizer or a lip balm, which should be applied underneath your lip gloss or lipstick. In fact you should never go without this. Even wear it when you take your makeup off and go to bed. It does not take a lot of effort and it does not cost a lot either.
How to make your lips soft and smooth – the best methods
*Start off with a good diet, remember to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. For some this may sound like a large quantity, but water is one of the most important things that you can put into your body. It is dehydration that cracks the lips, so it is vital that you remember to drink water as well as a good dose of fruit and vegetables.
*Exfoliation is the next important step in the process. You shouldn’t be rubbing the skin so hard, leaving red marks, but if you do this on a daily basis in a gentle way then it will be more effective.
*Start with a liberal coat of Vaseline and rub it over your lips. After that use a soft toothbrush and rub it over the skin in circular movements for about 3 minutes. Take a damp cloth and rub it off gently. Now take the chapstick and rub it onto your lips.
*It is a lot better to do this on a daily basis. If you skip a few days or you only do it in the case of relief once you have been out in the sun you will find that it will take up a lot more time and can be quite painful. If your lips are drier than normal then leave the vaseline on for a little longer so that your lips soften up some more.
*The ideal time to do this is before you go to sleep, right after you have brushed your teeth. You will find that moisturizer will really start to take effect and you will start to feel the difference within a matter of days.
*Some people have also found that by mixing olive oil with sugar into a paste and rubbing that onto the lips the same effect takes place. This you should leave on your lips for 5-10 minutes.
*If your lips are cracked or they are bleeding then wait until they have healed until you start exfoliating because this is going to make the problem worse. Remember that this is a gentle process and if you follow the basics there is no doubt that you will know how to make your lips soft and smooth in no time.
